Addagrip Terraco rises to universities challenge

Addagrip is delighted to have been chosen by a number of universities across the UK as the supplier for a range of Resin Bound and Resin Bonded surfacing projects.

Enterprise Centre at Norwich

In Norwich, Addagrip approved contractor, Algek Ltd, installed over 900 sqm of Resin Bound surfacing to the exterior of the newly built Enterprise Centre building, which opened in June 2015 at the University of East Anglia.

The Enterprise Centre includes an innovation lab, a 300-seat lecture theatre, flexible workspaces, teaching and learning facilities, and incubator units for low carbon start-ups. The project was designed to meet specific environmental BREEAM and Passivhaus targets and features a striking thatched exterior. In keeping with the building’s green credentials, the client selected Addabound, an option that is not only porous, but contains recycled content as part of the natural aggregate blend. A 6mm Oyster blend was installed in keeping with the colour scheme of the new building.

Addagrip approved contractor, Coatech Ltd, was delighted to be involved in a £50 million student accommodation project for Aberystwyth University at their accommodation complex at Penglais Farm. Working closely with the principal contractor, Coatech installed over 770sqm of Terrabound Resin Bound Surfacing in an Autumn Toffee blend to the walkways (below). Terrabound has excellent porosity and hard wearing properties, making it the perfect choice for large scale commercial projects such as this.

Accomodation complex at Penglais

Addastone was selected for the walkways at Stirling University, with Addagrip approved contractor Resarf Flooring Limited installing 520 sqm of the Resin Bonded surfacing in time for the start of the new academic year. The bonded system was selected to give a loose gravel appearance to the pathways, but without the maintenance issues of migrating stone. This natural-looking paving contributes to the rural, relaxed atmosphere of the site, which is situated in a 330 acre estate around Airthrey Loch.

Resarf Flooring Ltd was also responsible for installing Resin Bound surfacing to the access roads and pedestrian pathways at the new student accommodation in Beith Street, Partick, a short walk from the University of Glasgow. A Terrabound Tuscan Pebble blend was chosen to complement the surrounding red brickwork, providing a smooth, seamless, low maintenance surface that enhances the external area of the accommodation complex.
