Yorkshire Copper Tube Company Profile
Yorkshire Copper Tube is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of copper tube and exports products to many countries across the world. The company is part of the KME Group, Europe’s largest manufacturer of copper and copper alloy products. Yorkshire Copper Tube has a large and modern manufacturing facility where advancing manufacturing methods are combined with sophisticated quality control techniques to ensure exceptionally high standards are maintained.
The product range includes Yorkex plain, straight length copper tubes and a complete range of plain and coated copper tubes for any plumbing, heating or gas application. The copper tubes are manufactured to EN 1057 for plumbing tubes and EN 13348 for medical gas tubes. Yorkshire Copper Tube has established a widely respected reputation for the quality and performance of products which often outlive the building in which there are installed. The majority of products are guaranteed for 25 years.
The product range includes:
Yorkex
Yorkex is a copper tube specified for general purpose above ground services such as drinking water, central heating, sanitation, hot and cold water, gas and various engineering applications. Yorkex can be easily manipulated in half-hard condition, is relatively lightweight and has the ability to tolerate high internal pressure. Features include:
- Cu-DHP grade copper
- 6-54mm available in R250 half hard condition
- 35-159mm available in R290 hard condition
- Standard lengths available include 2, 3, 5.8 and 6 metres
- Special finishes include Kuterlex, Kuterlex Plus, Kuterlex Medical (degreased) and chrome plated
MiniBore
Minibore is a small bore tube which is supplied in coils of up to 50m. The coils can be easily bent by hand or using an appropriate machine and with its small diameter, provides the opportunity to form tight bends. Minibore is unobtrusive when surface fixed and is suitable for applications including central heating, behind dry wall liners, under suspended floors, through false ceilings and cabling applications. Standard features include:
- Cu-DHP grade copper
- Supplied in R220 annealed coiled condition
- 10, 20, 25 and 50 metre length options
- Kuterlex and Kuterlex Plus finishes
Kuterlon
Kuterlon has a wall thickness which is significantly greater than that of Yorkex and offers the option of a higher pressure rating. Kuterlon is available in straight lengths or coil form and with a Kuterlex coating can be specified for underground applications. With the extra wall thickness, Kuterlon can be used on pressurised steam installations with a maximum working temperature of 205 degrees centigrade and is widely specified for drinking water, central heating, sanitation, gas, engineering and underground service applications. Features include:
- Cu-DHP copper
- 12-28mm in R220 annealed condition for hand manipulation and forming
- 6-28mm straights in R250 half hard condition for cold bending and forming
- 35-108mm in R290 hard condition
- Coils available in 5.8m lengths for container loads to export markets
- Finishes include Kuterlex, Kuterlex Plus and Yorkshire Medical degreased
Kuterlex
Kuterlex is a copper tube coated with a seamless plastic cover which protects the copper tube from aggressive materials. It is colour-coded to identify the services carried and is suitable for cold water services, underground pipework (including contaminated ground) and pipework behind plaster. Key features include:
- Straight lengths in 5.8m lengths
- Coiled lengths available in 10, 20, 25 and 50m lengths
- Remains flexible to -60 degrees
- Plastic coating can withstand temperatures of up to 95 degrees
- Reduced installation time
Kuterlex Plus
Kuterlex copper tube is wrapped in a continuous cover that incorporates air channels on the internal surface and is designed to offer enhanced protection from external attack. The cover also provides a thermal barrier of 0.29W/m2k and reduces heat loss from the buried tube and condensation on exposed cold pipework. Applications include hot water systems, underground pipework, pipework installed in concrete and humid atmospheres. Benefits include:
- Reduced installation times
- Reduced risk of burns and scolding
- Can withstand temperatures of up to 95 degrees
- Remains flexible to -60 degrees
WICU Gas
WICU Gas coils feature a protective yellow seamless plastic cover with air channels and safeguards against external corrosion and offers service identification. Features include:
- Ideal for long runs without joints
- Remains flexible down to -60 degrees
- Supplied in 25m coils in R220 annealed condition
Irish
The Irish range of copper tubes is suitable for above ground services such as drinking water, central heating, sanitation, hot and cold water, gas and various engineering applications. The pipes are easy to manipulate, lightweight and have the ability to withstand high internal pressure. Features include:
- 14.7 - 53.6mm (1/2 - 2") in half hard 5.5m lengths
- PVC coated tubes in R220 soft condition 10-14.7mm (1/2") in 25 and 50m coils
- Straight lengths are NSAI Standard Mark Approved
Medical Gas
Medical Gas tubes are specially cleaned and packed to ensure that they can be used for medical gases and/or vacuum lines. The cleaning process eliminates the spontaneous combustion of oxygen lines and takes away malodours from any residual lubricants that could taint breathable gases. Features include:
- Sizes up to 54mm additional sizes are manufactured to the physical and dimensional requirements of EN 1057
- 5.8 or 6m lengths available in 12-108mm diameters
- Kuterlon Medical and Yorkex Medical tubes are available
ASTM Straight Copper Tube
This range of copper tube is manufactured in accordance with ASTM B88 in 10 or 20ft lengths in nominal standard sizes ranging from ½” to 6” in TYPE L and ½” to 4” in TYPE M. The tubes are ANSI/NSF Standard 61 and produced under a Quality Management System.
Yorkshire Copper Tube prides itself on offering a wide range of pipe solutions for a vast array of applications.
