Wardray Premise is based in Thames Ditton, Surrey and specialises in the design and manufacture of bespoke radiation shielding equipment for medical and industrial applications. The family owned business has been established for over one hundred years and the products are renowned throughout the world. Wardray Premise also provides a wide range of Magnetic Resonance (MR) products to the medical industry, personnel protection and a selection of accessories and support equipment for medical imaging and therapy.
The company has two manufacturing facilities, one based in Surrey, the other in Halifax and a team of engineers trained and experienced in installing and servicing medical equipment on a national basis. The products are also available overseas via distributers located in countries throughout Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific and America.
Services
Wardray Premise provides a comprehensive range of services to clients including bespoke engineering utilising high specification computer design packages and modern fabrication and machining equipment. The skilled engineers can produce quality products ranging from single bespoke items to large batch orders from most metallic materials. During the final assembly, the products are thoroughly inspected and tested to strict documented procedures. There is a team of service engineers which covers the whole of the UK providing support for Wardray Premise and other manufacturer’s products. This includes servicing of the equipment and multi-product service contracts for x-ray processing equipment, RF attenuation testing, mammography equipment, MR products and general hospital equipment, product repairs, training and pre/post-sales support.
Structural Radiation Shielding
Wardray Premise designs and manufactures a wide range of structural radiation shielding products to bespoke specifications. The technical team is available to provide advice and guidance on selecting the most practical and cost effective solutions for any shielding requirement. Basic materials used in the production of shielding equipment include: sheet lead, lead bricks, lead glass, Premac lead acrylic, Permadex neutron shielding and Flexiled lead PVC. Wardray Premise also offers a complete radiation shielding package comprising of calculations, design, manufacturing, installation and post-contract support. The product range includes:
- X-Ray Shielding: Products designed to protect staff and patients from radiation sources including lead lined panels, partitions and door sets, observation windows, screens, overhead suspension shields, curtains and ventilation grilles
- Neutron and Photon Shielding: Protection using Permadex a waxy lightweight solid material which can be cut to shape or poured into prefabricated shielding assemblies. Permadex is perfect for areas such as room-scatter attenuation, glove box construction, accelerator facilities, neutron source containers and nuclear facilities
- MRI Installations: MRI cages constructed in a unique aluminium modular design, door sets, observation windows, filters and fittings, complete room fit-out and RF testing
- Shielding for Non-Destructive Testing: Products include x-ray and gamma shielded rooms, power operated lead-lined doors, inspection cabinets and neutron source containers
- CyberKnife: This machine works with CT mapping technology and calculates how much radiotherapy a tumour requires to destroy all the cells without harming surrounding tissue. This system is ideal for previously difficult to treat tumours such as spine cancer. Wardray Premise has developed and installed a completely bespoke shielded room to provide total protection within a CyberKnife facility.
MR Products
Wardray Premise is one of the UK’s leading providers of MR products to the medical industry and has developed a wide range of products and services which include:
- MRI Installations: RF and magnetic shielding for MRI rooms including doors and windows
- Transportation: Adjustable, fixed, paediatric and MR trolleys, wheelchairs and portering chairs
