The Texlon System
By utilising sophisticated load analysis and patterning, Vector Foiltec can engineer Texlon into almost any size or shape, enabling designers to demonstrate flexibility in creating unique, light and elegant structures. The Texlon cladding system provides designers with unrivalled opportunities in the development of the climatic envelope and incorporates pneumatic cushions restrained in aluminium extrusions and supported by a lightweight structure. The cushions are inflated using low-pressure air which provides insulation and resistance to wind loads. The system is extremely durable and long-lasting and will not degrade under UV light or atmospheric pollution.
Texlon ETFE features a very smooth surface and anti-adhesive properties which allows the cladding to clean itself when there is rainfall. The system also incorporates superior light transmission with high insulation and can incorporate various types of solar shading. Systems can even be developed which react to the sun and change their transmission and insulation throughout the day. All the properties of the system, coupled with Texlon’s very low levels of embodied energy and outstanding environmental characteristics result in the creation of an ecologically benign climatic envelope. Texlon Colour
Texlon’s multi-layer construction allows the creation of envelopes of almost unique variety and interest. Each foil layer has the ability to print graphics, embody colour, manipulate surface quality and laminate LEDs and light tapes. The surface can be created to capture projected light for displaying images, video or colour and each layer can transmit, reflect or scatter the image allowing the whole envelope to operate as a visual panorama. Low voltage light tapes and LEDs of various colours, sizes and brightness can be laminated into the cushions and used as a light source and/or a way of communication.
Texlon Solar
Texlon Solar incorporates photovoltaic cells within the Texlon cushions. This system enables solar energy to be collected and used to provide pollution-free electricity. This means a building can minimise its reliance on fossil fuels and improve its carbon footprint. The solar cells are manufactured in a continuous roll disposition process and laminated into the upper foils of the cushions, resulting in unique, lightweight and flexible solar cells which are strong and durable. Even on a partially cloudy day, the system can produce continuous power. Texlon Solar can be metered into the national power grid, this enables any power which is created by the system, but is not required to be sold back to the national grid at a fixed tariff. Texlon Solar can be integrated with Texlon Vario systems which allows for the development of dynamic climatic envelopes that harvest solar energy, manipulate light and solar transmission and change insulation, further reducing the demand for fossil fuels.
Texlon Flexipix
Texlon Flexipix is both a transparent media façade and climatic envelope in one system to provide an innovative media backdrop for any building façade. This large-scale multi-media display is manufactured by incorporating LED colour diodes on a transparent foil grid within the Texlon ETFE façade. Flexipix offers a standard resolution of 100 x 100mm and can accommodate every type of text display, large screen video or interactive application. This modular system can be manufactured in almost any size ranging from 50m2 to many thousands of square metres. Irregular or amorphous cut-outs and biaxial bending are also an option. Flexipix is available in three options:
- Standard Flexipix: A fully transparent climatic envelope with integrated LED video display in a 100 x 100mm grid with more than 90% transparency
- Hi-Res Flexipix: This system offers up to 800 pixels per square metre and is available with multi-coloured pixels and is capable of displaying a static picture without electricity
- Flexicurtain: A media curtain which can be incorporated into existing buildings by retro-fitting behind glass or partitions
Maintenance
Vector Foiltec has a team of dedicated maintenance engineers who will ensure that every installation is maintained to an exceptional standard and will perform efficiently throughout the lifespan of the structure. ETFE roof installations are live systems and it is essential that they are inspected, serviced and maintained at regular intervals. A complete installation maintenance package is available which incorporates:
