Stormsaver Company Profile

Stormsaver was established in 2003 and specialises in the design and supply of bespoke rainwater harvesting systems for the domestic and commercial market sectors. Rainwater harvesting is an eco-friendly and sustainable solution to the increasing water supply issues in the UK. The systems recycle rainwater, which in turn reduces utility costs and helps the environment.

Stormsaver’s product range is continuously being added to and developed to satisfy the ever changing requirements of the client. The demand for affordable, sustainable technologies with superior environmental credentials is continuously increasing and Stormsaver is at the forefront innovation, leading the industry towards excellence in sustainability.

Rainwater Harvesting

Rainwater harvesting is a very simple process which involves the collection on rainfall from a roof, storing on-site, filtering it and re-using it for flushing toilets, irrigation, landscape watering, vehicle washing, laundry and fire sprinkler systems. The collected rainwater is free, sustainable, limescale-free and can be a contributing factor in reducing localised flooding. Stormsaver’s rainwater harvesting systems have been installed in a wide range of buildings throughout the UK including shops, offices, universities, schools, warehouses, factories, hospitals, prisons, apartment blocks and domestic properties. Rainwater harvesting and recycling is becoming a necessity due to climate change and erratic weather conditions which are resulting in flooding and droughts. During dry conditions, collected water can be used to provide a continuous supply of water and during periods of heavy rain, it can be stored and in turn reduces the pressure on drains which often results in localised flooding.

Services

Stormsaver employs a skilled and dedicated team of qualified estimators who can provide advice and guidance on specifying the correct system for any application. Every project is overseen from start to finish to ensure a trouble free installation. A technical account manager will provide tailored advice and guidance throughout and a comprehensive package of drawings and an installation manual will be provided. Stormsaver will work closely with the ground workers during tank installation and assist the mechanical and electrical contractors as they add the final connections prior to commissioning. Stormsaver provides a range of maintenance services which include:

  • Training for maintenance operatives
  • 6 or 12 month maintenance contracts
  • Full site specific operation and maintenance manuals and commissioning reports
  • Regular maintenance calls through customer service

Products

Every system is bespoke designed to each specific application and manufactured to an exceptional standard using high quality materials. Many factors are taken into account when designing the system, such as budget, building size, occupancy levels, expected rainfall levels, expected demand for the water and existing site conditions. The installation of a Stormsaver rainwater harvesting system can assist in gaining points for the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM).

Commercial Applications

Commercial buildings can collect a large amount of rainwater and reuse it for numerous applications. Stormsaver’s standard systems are guaranteed to save the client money by reducing water usage day after day. There is also a range of additional features to enhance the systems which include monitoring units, duty and stand-by pumps, booster sets and UV disinfection. Our commercial rainwater harvesting systems are available with storage tank capacities ranging from 1,000 to 150,000 litres for underground tanks and 1,000 to 200,000 litres for above ground sectional tanks. System options include:

  • Non-Pressurised System: A non-pressurised system channels rainwater from a roof into a storage tank which is buried below ground. When entering the tank the water is filtered to remove large debris such as leaves and moss. Any excess rainwater flows away through a one-way overflow system. Inside the tank there are sensors and a submersible pump, which when called for take the cleanest water through a filter into a break tank, supplying water to the point of use. During spells of low rainfall a WRAS compliant mains water top-up provides a continuous supply.
  • Pressurised System: A pressurised system is often specified for buildings with low water consumption, where there is limited roof space for a header tank or where a pressurised supply is required. The collection and flow process is the same as the non-pressurised systems, but the main difference is the water that enters the control system flows via a pressurisation unit as a direct supply to points of use. In periods of low rainfall a WRAS compliant mains water back-up is activated to provide a continuous water supply.
  • Combi System: This unique system combines the benefits of a gravity fed header tank system and a pressurised supply of a boosted water system. Working in the same way as the other systems, the Combi rainwater harvester system features a combi unit instead of a normal control unit where water is stored to await distribution by a variable booster which provides water to various applications without the requirement of a large header tank. This system also offers mains water back-up and a WRAS compliant air-break to provide a continuous water supply.

Domestic Applications

Monsoon by Stormsaver is an ideal solution for domestic rainwater harvesting for housing associations, property developers and individuals building their own properties. Monsoon is an innovative and advanced domestic rainwater harvesting system that uses 90% less energy than other domestic rainwater harvesting systems and can be used for providing water for flushing toilets, laundry, garden irrigation and vehicle washing. The system is simple to install, use and maintain and the team of experts at Stormsaver can offer comprehensive support for complete peace of mind.

Monsoon Rainwater Harvesting System

The Monsoon system simply collects rainwater from the roof area of a building down the normal gutters, through a pre-tank filter and into underground water storage tanks which is surrounded by concrete. The rainwater is stored until it is called for via a control unit located within the property. The control unit features a low energy pump which brings the rainwater through the second stage of filtration, directly to the appliances. The system can switch to mains water supply if there is a period of low rainfall. The system is very easy to maintain and only the pre-tank filter requires cleaning to remove algae or debris. The Monsoon system is available with standard tank capacities of 1500, 2500, 3500 and 5000 litres and bespoke sizes are available if required. The expert team at Stormsaver will assist clients with technical specification, installation advice, finding an expert fitter in a specific area and post-sales support.

Stormsaver is fully committed to providing a complete range of eco-friendly rainwater harvesting systems to suit any application. The state-of-the-art systems have been developed and created to assist individuals and businesses in recycling rainwater, helping the environment and reducing utility costs. The dedicated team of researchers at Stormsaver are continuously developing the range to satisfy the ever increasing demand for affordable, sustainable technologies which benefit the environment. The sales team welcomes enquiries and will provide guidance, advice and information across the whole product range. All Stormsaver systems exceed the requirements set by the British Standard BS8515 for rainwater harvesting.
