Established in 2003, Spray Tanker Services is a West Midlands based company which has become a market leader in tack coat and bond coat binder application, road spraying and the application of surface dressing binders for road surface dressing works. The company provides a full contracting service throughout the UK and also works in partnership with local councils and large contractors.
Services
Surface Dressing:
Surface Dressing involves the spraying of bitumen in emulsion form onto the road surface. Chippings are added to the wet bitumen to provide texture to the road surface and prevent skidding. The bitumen also serves to seal the road surface, preventing damage through the entry of water. The company consults TRL Road Note 39, to design the appropriate dressing for a given road. Other considerations such as the Polished Stone Value (PSV) and the Aggregate Abrasion Value (AAV) are made in order to make the safest choice of dressing for the road.
Bond Coat/Tack Coat Application:
Bond of Tack coat can be applied hot or cold to provide a thin adhesive layer between a new surface and an existing one. It can be made from bitumen emulsion or polymer modified bitumen emulsion and reduces the risk of slippage between two layers. It also allows the stresses on the road to be distributed evenly due to optimized contact between the layers. The bond coat is sprayed from lorry mounted sprayers and is spread evenly. Bond coats are necessary when overlaying cement concrete.
Binder Application:
The company offers a choice of binders from its UK suppliers. The binder is distributed in the bitumen spray tankers. Spray Tanker Services employ highly skilled drivers and operators to apply the binder.
Retread Road Recycling:
Bituminous emulsions are used to improve existing asphalt surfaces to a depth of 75-100mm with intermittent rolling, so that traffic can pass. The surface is harrowed and graded to form a new road profile. This service is economical, it is respectful of the environment (as it eliminates the dumping of spoil), it improves riding quality and eliminates pot holes. It also ensures effective water sealing and reshapes deformed surfaces.
Spray Tanker Services is an accredited contractor for CHAS and RSTA and it is a registered member of UKAS. The company also operates an Accredited Quality Management System in accordance with BS EN ISO 9001:2000 and is involved in the National Highways Sector Scheme (NHSS) 13A.
