Solarshield was established in 1986 and specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of industry-leading window treatments. The extensive range of products includes high quality glass coatings such as security film and edge retention systems for bomb blast, anti-vandal and anti-shatter protection, solar control film, digital printing/manifestations, privacy screening, commercial blinds, etched glass effect manifestation, vinyl signs and film to reduce UV levels.

With over 25 years of experience, Solarshield has built-up a highly respected reputation for superior levels of service, support and product ranges. Solarshield is a family owned company which has a combined experience in the surveying and installation of window films and blinds; crucial for the correct specification of high performance products.

• Complete supply and installation of products
• On-site surveys and specification meetings
• Energy and building analysis in which a survey can establish the current energy usage and an energy reduction figure provided. The carbon reduction figure is based on the reduction of cooling and heating costs
• Glazing audits where the glass and glazing is analysed and recommendations will be made for compliance with glazing laws and regulations including DDA and Health and Safety
• Overhead glazing surveys where various systems can be offered to protect from the dangers of overhead glazing such as spontaneous breakage, reduction of glare and edge retention
• Site surveys to analyse requirements for the electrical operation of blinds
• Trade shop for the supply only, if required on a selection of the product range
• UK-wide service.

Window Film

Solarshield offers a comprehensive range of window film products which are extremely versatile and suitable for a wide and varied range of applications. Window film can be used to greatly reduce a building’s carbon footprint and the solar films are carbon negative and are compliant with current regulations. The Solarshield technical consultants are on-hand to offer advice and recommendations on specifying the most appropriate solution for a particular application. The window film range includes:

• Security and Safety: Window films which are installed onto glass to provide extra protection from impact or collision
• Bomb Blast Protection: Extra strong window film which is added to glass and provides a superior protection level in the event of an explosion of bomb blast
• Solar Control and Glare Reduction: A window film which greatly reduces glare from the sun, reducing summer heat gain and building cooling costs
• Insulation (Low E): This film offers the same benefits as the solar film, but with the added extra of a Low E coating which reduces heat loss through the glass
• Privacy/Decorative: A comprehensive array of films which are designed to provide privacy and decoration
• Lumisty/View Control: A unique and individual privacy product which changes from translucent to transparent depending upon the angle it is viewed
• LCD Switchable Film: Glass can be changed from clear to frosted at the touch of a button
• UV Reduction: Film designed to filter out the harmful UV rays whilst still allowing maximum light into a room
• Manifestations and Graphics: The manifestations are available in bespoke or standard options and can be applied to any glazed area
• Anti-Graffiti: A clear layer of film which is designed to take graffiti and damage, which can then be easily replaced. Ideal situations include phone boxes, bus stops, retail displays, transportation windows, mirrors in public conveniences and glass areas in high traffic zones
• Radiant Light Film: A reflective multi-coloured window film which is a new and innovative product from 3M that features colours which change from turquoise blue to mauve, to purple, to gold as an individual moves past
• Automotive Window Film: Solarshield works in conjunction with its sister company Auto Films Direct, installing high quality window films to vehicles for security, safety, aesthetics, UV reduction and glare reduction
• Llumar Enerlogic Film: The Llumar Enerlogic range is a new glass insulation technology which outsmarts the sun to assist in saving energy, reducing costs and easing comfort all year round.

Edge Retention

Solarshield supplies and installs a glass anchoring and edge retention battening system which has been developed to maximise the effectiveness of existing filmed glass and framed glass by preventing the filmed glazing from coming away from the frame in the event of breakage.

Blind Systems

Solarshield offers a comprehensive range of superior quality and performance blind systems to reduce solar glare and heat gain. The company specialises in the installation of commercial blinds and offers a vast array of automated controls to complement the excellent range of solar reflective fabrics. The majority of blinds incorporate the Somfy Motors and controls, providing superior control and durability. The systems available include the standard contract range of blinds, Silent Gliss blinds and Verosol solar coated blinds. Options available include:

3M Di-Noc Architectural Finishes

Solarshield is an approved supplier and installer of the 3M Di-Noc architectural finishes range. Di-Noc finishes are designed to resemble natural materials and other types of surfaces to an incredible degree. Lightweight and self-adhering, 3M Di-Noc can be installed on-site to any existing substrate, reducing material and labour costs. Finishes include wood grains, sleek metals, natural stone and over 500 other options. Solarshield can provide assistance with specification and surveys to establish the most appropriate finish.
