SMS Timber Frame is based in Shelley, Huddersfield and is a family operated business which specialises in the design, manufacture and construction of timber frame structures. The company was established in 1998 by Mike Smith, who has over 20 years of experience and expertise. SMS timber frame has the capability to produce superior quality timber frames structures for a wide range of applications including, new build houses, self builds, commercial buildings, extensions, top hat extensions, garden rooms and feature work.
We are based in West Yorkshire where the frames are manufactured to exact specifications. Because we are a small dedicated team we can control the quality of our service from quotation stage, through design, manufacture and erection of your project. We can assure you of a dedicated, no nonsense approach. All the members of the team are encouraged to take pride in everything we do.

Structures
Timber frames are environmentally friendly and offer excellent green credentials. The structures are virtually carbon neutral, sustainable, renewable and have low embodied energy. SMS not only provide standard frames we can manufacture panels to your requirements such as I beam panel systems, space stud panel systems, and deep panel systems up to 350 mm for single wall systems with vastly enhanced “U” values.
Feature work
Because we carry only skilled labour, we are more than capable of producing all kinds of feature work from green oak trusses to incorporate into a self build, to garden room structures through to full feature roof projects for builders/developers, using a combination of contemporary engineering and traditional joining/carpentry methods.
