Services:
Treatments and application processes are dependent on the final use for the timber. PTG will establish the most appropriate treatment for each project, which is then applied using modern, specialist equipment and using the latest technological advances to ensure optimum performance. Treatments available include:
Preservation Treatments
There are two treatment processes, high pressure and low pressure. A classification table enables users to establish the appropriate level of protection, these are:
- 1 - Internal and dry, e.g. upper floor joists
- 2 - Internal, risk of wetting e.g. tile battens
- 3(A) - Outdoor, coated, above ground e.g. window frames
- 3(B) - Outdoor, uncoated, above ground e.g. fence rails
- 4 - Direct soil or fresh water contact e.g. fence posts
Low Pressure Treatment
This is often used on timber frame construction projects, roofing timbers and low hazard end use applications; providing protection from wood destroying fungi and insects. The preservative is a water based solution that is applied with a vacuum in a purpose built industrial plant. This process allows the core of the timber to remain untreated and dry. This is due to the lower uptake of water which envelopes the exterior of the wood, whilst leaving the timber at it's original dimensions and moisture content.
High Pressure Treatment
This treatment process provides protection against wood destroying fungi and insect infestation and is widely used for the majority of end use applications. A water-based Osmose AC500 solution is applied in a purpose built plant using a vacuum and high pressure processes; this increases the penetration of the preservative deeper into the wood, providing long lasting protection.
Fire Protection
PTG Treatments has build the one of the best treatment centres in Europe for fire protection and offers architects, specifiers and contractors a complete package from advice on specification, standards and fire and building regulations, to delivery of the treated timber. Applied with purpose built equipment, the advanced Osmose FirePRO fire retardant treatment has been tested to BS EN 13501-1:2003 fire classification of construction products and building elements, achieving either Euroclass B or C. Osmose FirePRO has been independently accredited and includes the following features:
- Suitable for interior or weather protected exterior situations
- Low smoke development values
- Strength and durability
- Low hygroscopicity
- Resistant to fastener corrosion
- Humidity resistant
