The company was established in 1989 and has developed a range of gazebos, outdoor shelters, outdoor classrooms, play equipment and seating that make the very best use of exterior spaces.

Outdoor Places timber structures are designed to look good, inspire play, create natural play spaces and increase social learning. Every piece of equipment is designed to be long lasting and durable, ideal for use by children and adults alike.

The product range includes:

Gazebos

A gazebo is a freestanding structure which features a roof and a varied number of sides and provides shelter from external elements. Options available for the shelters include polycarbonate roofing in bronze, clear or opal colours, shiplap roofing for superior waterproofing or featheredge roofing for a more rustic appearance; featheredge, coloured polycarbonate panelling or picket panels; angled seating and a variety of flooring surfaces including GrasseDeck surfacing, SafaGrass matting, outdoor carpet in various colours, bright and bold wet pour rubber surfaces and wood chippings. The range of standard gazebos includes:

  • Simple Shelter: A budget gazebo which is a versatile design suitable for use as a garden shelter, bus shelter, bike shed or a larger structure. This shelter can also be linked to create a larger structure or even a covered walkway. The Simple Shelter is available in any size required and can incorporate seating, if required.
  • Gazebo Lodge: A traditionally styled gazebo, based upon a barn design which is available in various sizes and lengths. The gazebo comes with dual posts which support the hip roof, creating a strong and sturdy shelter.
  • Gazebo Barn: The Gazebo Barn provides a wide expanse of covered space and combines all the features and benefits of the gazebo range. The Long Barn is 5.75m wide x 9.2m long, creating 45.8m² of space. The Gazebo Short Barn measures 5.75, wide x 7.1m, providing 33.1m² of available space.
  • Standard Gazebo: An hexagonal shaped structure which can be built to exact specification utilising a range of optional extras such as a polycarbonate roof which provides soft light transmission, free of harmful UV rays, bright and bold, rustic, natural or safety flooring surfaces, timber panel, glazed wind screens and angled seating for additional comfort.

Outdoor Shelters

Outdoor shelters can be specified for a variety of applications including exterior learning areas, playgrounds, social areas, smoking zones, cycle shelters and much more. The shelters can incorporate a range of optional extras for flooring, seating and roofing. The designs available include:

  • Lean-to Shelters: Lean-to shelters are designed to be installed onto the side of a building or a wall. A typical example of a lean-to shelter features a glazed end panel for extra protection from the elements, polycarbonate roofing and guttering. A shelter measuring 6.3m x 4.7m provides 30m² of covered space.
  • Curved or Double Ridged Roof Shelter: The Curve and Ridge linking modules feature a gently curved polycarbonate arc or pitched roof and can be finished in any of the roofing options available. These large shelters are bespoke manufactured to provide large areas of covered space as a standalone format or to cover a walkway.
  • Peak Shelter: The Peak shelter incorporates a tall roof and creates a stunning addition to any exterior space. The shelter can accommodate up to six children and can feature a mini table. The Peak is fitted with angled-for-comfort seating and tilted backrests and is available in various sizes with roof options such as felt, shiplap or cedar shingles or polycarbonate.
  • Chattery Shelter: The Chattery shelter is a more compact shelter, ideal for small groups to socialise or work in. The shelter is available in two height options of 1.5m and 2m and features a bronze translucent polycarbonate roof for shade and UV protection and a raised concrete slab floor.

Outdoor Seating

When creating an exterior space for learning, playing or socialising, it is essential to incorporate appropriate seating for the types of people using it. Outdoor Places offers a range of high quality seating and benches to suit all requirements. Options include:

  • Enclosed seating and story chairs
  • Double sided benches in custom sizes
  • Friendship benches
  • Tree Seats which are fitted around a tree and incorporated with various flooring options such as non-slip GrasseDeck decking or mats or even outdoor carpet
  • Teepee seating is an attractive and eye-catching seat and table combination which stands at 3m high.

Play Equipment

To complete an interesting and stimulating outdoor area, it is vital that fun and safe play equipment is incorporated into the design. Products include:

  • Bridge: The bridges are available in 3m, 4m and 5m lengths in standard 1m widths (bespoke widths can be accommodated) and incorporate GrasseDeck non-slip surfacing.
  • Boat: The wooden boat provides a place for imaginative play or can be simply used as a seating area. The boat features a rubber mat deck, seating for small groups and is 2.25m long x 1m wide.
  • Glenmore Climbing Frame: A play-system featuring a vertical poly net, monkey bar frame, two ladders and two chin-up bars.
  • Redhill Climbing Frame: A climbing frame with a vertical climbing wall, vertical poly net, a log chain, a chain walk and a Tarzan hoop beam. Outdoor Places can supply and install this system, including safer surface flooring.
  • Lookout Tower: A low tower system which features three GrasseDeck steps leading to a paved platform and a sloped ramp. The GrasseDeck surface is a unique decking board with bonded artificial grass set into the surface.
