Origin is the UK’s leading specialist manufacturer of bespoke aluminium folding sliding doors. Established in 2002, Origin has since worked relentlessly to perfect the design and functionality of bi-folding doors to create and maintain the highly respected reputation for quality and service the company has today.
More recently, Origin has added a range of premium aluminium flush casement windows, engineered to the same high standards and offering superior thermal performance and security. Being completely bespoke, the Origin Window can be manufactured to the exact sizes required in styles to complement modern builds or period properties, including eye-catching bays and gable ends.
Origin was born when cousins, Neil Ginger and Victoria Brocklesby, set out with the ambition to design, create and manufacture the UK’s best quality doors, backed up by uncompromising levels of service. Despite the growth and deserved success, the family ethos still firmly remains today.

All doors and windows are designed and manufactured in the state-of-the-art Buckinghamshire factory which is also home to the company’s head office, purpose-built Origin Design Centre and showroom. Keeping the manufacturing process in-house ensures that Origin is able to ensure that every product leaves at a guaranteed standard through rigorous testing and quality control.
Exceptional care is taken in designing Origin Bi-fold Doors and the Origin Window for durability and long-term performance. Only ultra-high quality components, specially designed by Origin, are used. Because of the continuous testing and designed for purpose components used, it means that Origin is able to offer an industry-leading 20-year guarantee for optimum peace of mind.
Origin offers a ‘Your Lead Time, Not Ours’ service, meaning that customers can determine when they want their doors and windows delivered – whether in one day, one week or a month’s time, allowing the customer to dictate Origin’s manufacturing schedule.
Bi-fold Doors
Origin Bi-fold doors are completely bespoke to the customer’s specification. With the unique ability to choose from a huge variety of different opening configurations, colours, handles and finishes, it means that the customer can have a door completely tailored to their requirements whilst complementing their style.
Origin has over 150 RAL colours to choose from to ensure there’s a door to suit every home, whether traditional or modern. Colours range from white, a variety of greys, realistic woodgrain effect finishes to the slightly more outlandish varieties including yellows, blues, reds and greens.
Origin frames are made from high grade aluminium because of the strength, durability and longevity it offers. Aluminium combines strength and robustness with a light weight structure, meaning that it is extremely strong and weighs 67 per cent less than steel. This winning combination makes aluminium the ideal material for smooth gliding, easy to operate bi-folding doors, meaning that Origin is able to produce doors with aesthetically pleasing frames with narrow sight lines that are well-made and built to last.
The powder coat finish is extremely hard-wearing, and is resistant to scratches and colour fading. A full range of handle options are also available which blend functionality, aesthetics and ergonomics.

Thermal Efficiency :
Designed to keep a property warm in the cooler months and cool in the summer months, Origin makes use of advanced thermal break technologies and weather tight seals to give the bi-fold doors a certified U-Value of 1.3, surpassing the building regulation requirements by over 15%.
Safe and Secure :
Origin Bi-fold Doors are not only beautifully designed, but are also incredibly safe; they have a unique 8 point locking system for optimum security.
Low level threshold :
The low threshold design allows for equal floor finishes inside and out. These are particularly safe as they remove the trip hazards, and are ideal for disabled access. There are 2 options available; weathered and non-weathered.
Free Glide System :
The bottom of every door section incorporates a long wheelbase aluminium carriage with four wheels that runs inside a low threshold base track to give a free glide running system for maximum efficiency.
Finger Safe Gaskets :
Origin Bi-fold Doors incorporate finger safe gaskets in between each door leaf to ensure that no little fingers can get trapped when fully opened and folded. The lead door features a magnetic stay to hold the door in place, preventing it from slamming because of a gust of wind.
Configuration Options :
Each and every door is bespoke and made entirely to the customer's specification and aperture width. With configuration options ranging from a single door to eight door sets, Origin can fit apertures from 400mm up to 9600mm, meaning that it is possible to fit an Origin Bi-fold Door into any opening, however big or small.
Corner Fold & Bay Door Sets :
For rooms with an unusual layout or for rooms where a conventional door design is not possible, there are a range of bespoke configurations available including a corner set of doors at a 90 angle or even a bay set. Turn a dark corner into a feature that floods your room with natural light to make even more of your living space.
Windows
The same ultra slim, lightweight yet strong, aluminium frames are used for Origin’s low-maintenance, high security and thermally efficient windows. Using the ‘Secured by Design’ Yale locking system with night vent opening, Origin windows provide supreme security.
Windows are available in more than 150 powder-coated colours, ranging from traditional black, white or grey RAL colours to bright primary shades, deep earthy tones, wood effects and dual colours. The window handles are available in chrome silver aluminium, or in a colour match option.
The Origin Window features an advanced triple weather seal for unrivalled weather testing results. In addition, windows can be upgraded to Aerogel for ground-breaking thermal efficiency. Origin windows are the only ones in the UK to feature this technology, used for insulation in spacecraft and spacesuits. The result is slashed energy bills due to a U-Value of 0.9 and A++ Energy Rating.
Window types available are:
Casement
Flexible manufacturing techniques mean casement windows can be made up to 1000mm wide x 1800mm tall on side hung windows and up to 1500mm x 1500mm on top hung windows, and even coupled together for larger apertures. They are available with dummy sashes matching the style and sightlines of the openers.
Bay
An Origin bay window offering the right combination of strength and weight can be created to the exact specifications of sizes, angles, numbers of opening or non-opening sections and colour scheme for your scheme.
Gables
An Origin bay window makes a real statement with its narrow sightlines and beautifully designed symmetry, allowing for maximum light. They are suitable for even the shallowest of roof pitches.

In addition to this, founder Neil Ginger has created a video guide to installing a set of Origin Bi-fold Doors. Covering points including protecting the doors on site, the tools and components required, threshold preparation, layout prior to installation and fixing the outer frame into the aperture, the video aims to show prospective business partners how effortless the process is.
These factors are followed by installing the carriage assembles and doors, fitting the hardware and glazing, frame adjustment, fitting the magnetic keep and finishing such as hinge plugs, screw caps and the use of expanding foam to fill the gap between the aperture and outer frame.
