Nu-Heat UK Company Profile
Nu-Heat UK is the leading provider of energy efficient warm water underfloor heating systems to housebuilders and installers for the UK domestic market. The fully designed systems including underfloor heating, ground source, air source and exhaust air heat pumps, rainwater harvesting and solar thermal collectors have been developed to seamlessly integrate to provide a heating and hot water system which is tailored to the specific requirements of each customer.
Every system is designed and supplied as a complete package with all components included and ready to install. Nu-Heat has created Optimiser, a design software package which ensures compliance with BS EN 1264. Once the design is approved it is transferred to a CAD tube layout drawing which includes full specification. Optimiser design incorporates room-by-room heat-loss calculations to establish required heat outputs, establishes the most appropriate solution, determines correct tube spacing, decides water flow temperatures and boiler capacity and establishes the most suitable location for the underfloor heating water components.
Services and Support
Every system is supplied directly from Nu-heat and not through a retailer. This enables clients to receive a prompt and reliable service from the technical team. All quotations are carried out free of charge which includes advice on boiler sizing and suitability of particular boilers, solar collectors and heat pumps. Installation of the Nu-Heat systems can be easily carried out by a competent heating installer using the comprehensive manuals. Nu-Heat can also introduce local registered installers who are trained and accredited to install Nu-Heat’s range of systems. The complete package provided by Nu-Heat includes:
- System design
- All required products and components
- Optional accessories
- Thermostat and cylinder options
- Full service and support
- Specialist knowledge and understanding of the systems
- Continuous research and development of new products
- Nu-Heat underfloor systems are manufactured in Europe to DIN 4726
- Excellent solutions for housebuilders wanting to satisfy the requirements for The Code for Sustainable Homes
- OneZone screed and floating floor systems are available for individual rooms if required
Underfloor Heating
Underfloor heating systems work by pumping a controlled flow of warm water from any heat source via tubing within the floor. This system provides even heat across a room regardless of size and does not require supplementary heating, even on the coldest of days. Nu-Heat has developed over sixty different floor constructions such as solid beam and block to specific acoustic variations and timber joisted floors to accommodate every requirement. Nu-Heat is confident that there is a floor construction that will fit perfectly and if there isn’t they can design one.
The systems will work with most floor coverings, some better than others. The experienced team of designers will advise on the most appropriate floor coverings to achieve the best efficiency from the system. Underfloor heating allows design flexibility within a room as it does not require unsightly radiators which take up space. The systems are controlled via thermostats in various designs ranging from simple dial systems through to sophisticated self-learning options that provide zoned temperature control.
Heat Pumps
Nu-Heat offers a range of heat pump options including exhaust air, air source and ground source options. Heat pumps work by extracting a free source of solar energy stored naturally in the ground, air or water. This can then be used for domestic heating and hot water. Solar energy used in this form produces no harmful emissions and does not require transportation or supply pipelines. In well insulated properties, every 1kW of electricity used to power the heat pump can provide up to 4kW of free energy. Advantages of the systems include lower carbon emissions, lower heating bills, ideal partner for Nu-Heat underfloor heating systems, full integration with Nu-Heat solar systems and an ideal option for properties without a gas supply.
- Ground Source Pumps: This system works by using heat stored below ground from the sun's solar radiation and provides a consistent temperature throughout the year to supply the required energy for a home's heating and hot water requirements.
- Air Source Pumps: This system works by converting external air into heat and can operate in temperatures as low as -20 degrees and can reduce energy consumption by up to 50%.
- Exhaust Air Pumps: This system operates by extracting the latent energy from the internal air of a property and uses the recovered heat to recharge both the underfloor heating and domestic hot water. Exhaust air systems are generally used in apartments and small properties.
Solar Thermal
Nu-Heat has developed a range of flat plate solar collectors which utilise the most innovative technology such as prismatic glass and titanium oxide absorber coating, both of which maximise performance. The collectors absorb energy from the sun’s rays, which can then be used to heat water and underfloor heating systems. These systems can be integrated with a heat pump and can cover the heating and hot water requirements of a wide range of properties. The Nu-Heat team of designers will visit the property and advise on the most appropriate system configuration to achieve maximum efficiency. Solar benefits include free, eco-friendly renewable technology, production of around 60% of required hot water, simple and reliable technology, local government grants and low environmental impact.
Rainwater Harvesting
Rainwater harvesting is a cost-effective solution which allows access to a water supply to complement the mains water service. The systems simply collect rainwater from the roof via the downpipes, filter and store it and then it can be used for non-potable purposes such as toilets, washing machines, garden hoses, cleaning cars, irrigation and many other applications. Nu-Heat supplies a range of underground tanks in 3500l or 5000l sizes and there are three package options to choose from depending upon the size of the property, individual usage requirements and expected rainfall. Rainwater harvesting assists homes in achieving the required levels for the Code for Sustainable Homes.
Nu-Heat is committed to providing a wide range of energy-efficient and eco-friendly solutions for housebuilders and installers throughout the UK. The company supports well over 20,000 new and existing systems and the technical team can advise on specifications, installations, faults and servicing. Nu-Heat has a UK wide team of service partners who can provide maintenance and servicing for all the systems. The company website offers online quotations, brochures, testimonials and service partner information, as well as an online store where there is a stunning range of towel rails and accessories and OneZone underfloor heating kits.
