Nortech Control Systems was established in 1987 and specialises in the design, manufacture and supply of revolutionary personal and vehicle access solutions. The company is independently owned and has been at the forefront of providing access solutions to the security sectors for over 20 years. Nortech is a RFID reader designer and manufacturer and is a LEGIC partner, which enables the company incorporate advanced contactless smart card technology into the product range.

Access Control
Access control systems are available as stand-alone systems operating one or two doors through to networked access control solutions based upon Norpass3; an intuitive PC-based access control management software. In addition to the comprehensive range of card readers and ID devices, the access control range provides superior versatility to satisfy the requirements of both the installer and the end-user. Both stand-alone systems and PC-based systems support various options for validating access permissions such as pin-code access, presentation of a proximity or magstripe card or long-range identification for hands-free access. PC-based systems can also offer central control via a network.
- Stand-Alone Systems
A stand-alone system is suitable for residential properties, small businesses, storage units, simple car park applications, school offices and storerooms and sports and social clubs. Stand-alone systems can manage up to 20,000 users and can be used together with a reader of choice. Options include the CRC200 2 door/2 reader controller for doors, barriers, turnstiles and rising bollards, CRC100 a single door controller suitable for doors, rising bollards, barriers and turnstiles, NanoQuest combined card reader and access controller for a single door with up to 500 users and the KPS200 combined keypad and access controller in a single housing for a single door with up to 200 users.
- PC-Based Systems
PC-based systems are more suitable for small to medium business premises, large corporate premises, multiple site premises, manufacturing sites, government buildings, hospitals, educational facilities, sports and leisure centres, sports and social clubs where audit trail is required and car park access with additional management requirements. Products include Norpass3 access control software and CRC220 and CRC221 online door controllers which can manage 1-4 doors with up to 65,000 users.
Card Readers
The majority of modern access control systems use RFID cards or key fobs which are held by users to allow them access to restricted areas. This type of access control offers a high level of security, they are not prone to wear and are robust and maintenance free. Nortech supplies an vast array of cards, fobs and tokens and the proximity readers can read card formats such as EM1400, EM1402, Hitag1, Hitag2, Paxton and PAC and the smart card readers support both Mifare and LEGIC as well as reading serial numbers for most card types.
Parking and Vehicle Management
Parking and vehicle management solutions are ideal for the management of private car parks, hotel car parks and free and paid public parking areas to prevent unauthorised parking, raising revenue, easing congestion and monitoring usage. - Vehicle Monitoring and Guidance
The vehicle monitoring and guidance product range counts the numbers of vehicles entering and leaving an area, keeping track of available spaces and usage. There are simple stand-alone systems which can support four individual counts whilst the Norparc Level Counting and Guidance System provides a real-time on-screen information feedback, alarms and report generation. The system is capable of managing small, single level and large multi-storey car-parks, showing available spaces on each level.
- Automatic Vehicle Identification
Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) systems identify vehicles as they pass through monitoring points. The systems can be used in combination with the access control products to validate vehicles as they approach a barrier within a controlled area. The vehicles carry RF tags which are detected by special readers at the side of the road and once detected, a vehicle’s movement can be recorded and permission for access can be granted or denied. Products include the HyperX, uPASS Reach and Track systems.
- Parking Management Systems
Parking management systems are a cost-effective way of controlling the use of a car park, either by preventing unauthorised parking, enforcing time restrictions or managing parking fee payments. FeeMaster is a modular system that is configured to accommodate individual locations and is known as one of the best means of generating revenue from car parking. Products include the FM Console which reads entry tickets, calculates fees and encodes tokens and cards, the FM Lite Console is a configurable exit token issuer with a single push-button operation, the FM Entry Station issues entry tickets and the FM Exit Station validates pass cards and exit permits.
- Vehicle Access Control
Nortech’s range of vehicle access control products have been used successfully for over 25 years. Existing personnel access control systems can be easily expanded to accommodate access controls with various reader technologies to match individual applications. Nortech has supplied fully integrated vehicle and personnel access control solutions to numerous customers including several well-known companies. Products include Norpass3 access control software, access controller stand-alone and online products and a wide range of proximity readers, magstripe readers and keypads.
- Loop Detectors
Loop detectors are used to identify the presence of a vehicle over a wire loop buried under the road surface and signal its presence to a control device. This type of detector is used for applications such as safety, barrier control with free entry and exit, device arming and vehicle counting. Products include single and dual channel vehicle detectors, loop detector accessories, EzyLoop loop mats and detector diagnostic units.
