The company is a small independently run business, based in Penistone, South Yorkshire, which is dedicated to retaining traditional metalworking skills.

Lighting
Lighting is a key feature of any room and getting it right can change the way a room looks and feels. Nigel Tyas offers a comprehensive selection of traditional designs, with a contemporary feel which are manufactured to the highest quality. All of the wrought iron fittings are fully tested to British Standards and come in a wide range of finish options. The range includes:
- Wall Lights: For traditional environments, Nigel Tyas offers a large array of single and double wall lights which incorporate a hand forged iron back plate that can be fixed to brick or plasterboard walls. Candle tubes are included which can be matched to the surface of the light fitting. The lights are compatible with the latest energy efficiency bulbs. The wall light collection is continuously being added to and updated on the company website.
- Ceiling and Pendant Lighting: The wrought iron ceiling lights are all made to order and can be easily adapted for restricted spaces. The Hartcliff light is supplied with three or five arms which can be increased to suit personal preferences. The eight arm light can be modified to carry two tiers of lights. All hand forged pendant lights are fitted with a forged ceiling rose and chain, if required.
- Chandeliers: Make a statement with a wrought iron chandeliers. There are three design options available, Midhope, Shepherds Crook and Hartcliff. The Midhope is available with three, six or eight lights. The Shepherds Crook is available in two standard sizes with six or eight lights. The Hartcliff is designed for larger living spaces and is made with 12 or 18 lights in diameters of up to 1600mm. All styles can be made with one or two tiers of lights.
- Lanterns: The Langsett wrought iron lanterns can be made with one, two or four lights and can be supplied with a chain for fitting. The lanterns are only available in natural black with matching or ivory candle tubes.
- Standard and Table Lamps: The standard lamps and table lamps are all made to order and can be modified to suit individual requirements. When possible, all cabling is hidden from view and all lamps are compliant with relevant safety standards. The lamps are supplied without a shade, as standard, but there is a wide range of shades to choose from. The complete collection of freestanding lamps is made to perfectly complement the wall lights, pendant lights and curtain poles. Lamps can be supplied with dimmers.
- Silk Lampshades and Candle Shades: The new collections of silk lampshades and candle shades offer a luxurious alternative to traditional parchment, crackle and diamante shades and have become a firm favourite with customers.
Curtain Poles
The comprehensive selection of curtain poles is made to measure to exact specification. The curtain poles are perfectly complemented by the collection of finials and brackets and rings, hooks and holdbacks. The poles are available in solid or hollow options in various diameters in a large array of design options. Traditional pole diameters which are supplied are 16mm, 22mm and 32mm, which are fabricated from high quality thick-walled tubular steel, which offers strength and rigidity whilst reducing weight on the wall fixings. The finial designs are hand forged in a range of styles to suit all tastes and include simple clean designs, through to more ornate designs. Also available is a collection of portieres, holdbacks and draw rods. The dedicated sales team can advise customers on selecting the best poles and brackets for a particular environment.
Fireside Tools and Companion Sets
Nigel Tyas offers a collection of fireside tools and companion sets which are made to order in a wide range of styles. Styles range from classic designs including forged ball and spiral to characters such as ram’s heads. A traditional 5-piece companion set features a poker, brush, pan, tongs and stand. Other products include pokers, toasting forks and chestnut roasters.
