My Space Pod™ have linked up with a specialist design and engineering team to develop a pre-fabricated and flexible modular construction system, using reconstituted ISO shipping containers as a durable shell to form the pods.
The pods are custom made, compliant to British Board of Agrément certification and incorporate the very latest construction technology.
The latest BREEAM environmental sustainability standards have been applied to meet the highest code levels towards achieving a carbon neutral building that is subject only to local planning regulations and possible site constraints.
Will Alsop has conceived the stylistic structures using a palette of materials chosen with high re-cycled content that are durable and easily maintained.
The unique and individual buildings act as local landmarks within the public realm while transforming and enriching the streetscape for the benefit of local residents, the community and passers-by.
The modular pods are massively strong as the shells are made from pre-fabricated steel ISO shipping containers that are modified and engineered to be capable of stacking together up to 10 storeys high. My Space Pod modular building system has been assessed for compliance with current UK building regulations and method of production and awarded the British Board of Agrément Certificate confirming the product design life of at least 60 years.
The pods are designed to be a "plug and play" modular system for providing quick build accommodation solutions. The pre fabricated Pods are manufactured in a production line factory in association with Ardmore & Paddington off site construction facility to ensure consistency of quality whilst avoiding wastage of materials and time during construction as perfected by our building construction team. The quick delivery, assembly and fitting out of buildings can be, completed substantially faster than standard construction methods.
The pods are quick to build and transport, they can almost be literally parachuted on site. A turnkey project of 100 homes can be completed within 26 weeks from receipt of planning consent.
My Space Pod modular building system has wide ranging applications from a single Pod unit to a whole campus housing thousands of students, budget hotels, key workers, care homes, emergency housing relief, secure units, offices or indeed the system lends itself to numerous applications, in providing living accommodation in locations where people need to be.
The flexibility of the modular system allows for it to be dismantled and rebuilt on another site according to the occupiers needs.
Other applications may be for temporary housing or for emergency accommodation.
The My Space Pod™ Affordable Social accommodation modular construction pods can be built on any suitable residential or brownfield sites readily made available by local authorities. The pods and buildings are modelled according to the diversity of unit accommodation recommended in the London Housing Strategy for lifetime homes, ranging from single persons flat to family sized accommodation. The building may be arranged as town houses or apartment buildings.
The My Space Pod™ Motel accommodation is styled on a motel style room 20m².
The offer will be of minimum service.
In the U.K. sites for this concept can be accommodated on service station ancillary land, railway sidings and adjacent land to station car parks would also be ideal locations.
The My Space Pod™ Student accommodation provides basic studio rooms, the internal living area is of circa 13m² with en-suite bathroom facilities and tea point. Wheelchair accessible studio rooms comprise 20m². The buildings are ideally suited to multiple occupiers as the modular system can incorporate common rooms, break out areas, laundry and service rooms, bicycle parking and where applicable roof gardens.

My Space Pod™ aims to lead the way in sustainable living by incorporate the latest energy efficient products and standards of environmentally friendly green building technologies applied during the off site manufacturing of to the pods. The modular production method also ensures minimal wastage during construction. The building system is value engineered and designed for high performance, low maintenance and longevity.
The raw material products applied during the manufacturing and building process have been selected with due regard to their superb technical qualities, thermal & fire resistance, sustainability and end of life recyclability.
The Pods are designed to produce less carbon emissions and use less energy for heating because they contain the most advanced insulation. By incorporating renewable energy systems to deliver efficient heating, ventilation, water and electrical systems, considerable savings in running and maintenance costs can be achieved.
The custom designed system allows for flexibility in providing energy saving systems for each environment and specific project. The plug & play heating and cooling systems are designed to connect directly to CHP (Combined Heat & Power) bio mass boilers include solar heating, photo-voltaic cells, wind turbines, air and ground source heating. The Pods are fully adaptable to new technologies that come on stream in the future.
The Pods are designed and engineered to meet all British Standard building regulation codes and guides with particular attention to thermal & acoustic performance, conservation of fuel and power, all complying to BREEAM environmental assessment methods.
