Merronbrook designs and manufactures quality timber frame structures, floor joists and roof trusses for both major developers and small builders. Its timber frame structures are used in both the housing and commercial sectors.
Since 1964, all the company operations have been on a single site in Hampshire, enabling full control over quality in all phases of the operation. The design computers are fully integrated with production, ensuring an accurate product. The company is continually developing and its latest innovation has been the easi-joist; a floor joist system with an open metal web design that allows freedom of access for services.
Wherever possible, Merronbrook uses its own transport fleet to deliver its products, continuing the line of quality control and maintaining the company’s reputation for making sure customers receive exactly what they ordered and when they expect it.
Timber frame packages
Merronbrook timber frame packages have been used in everything from a single bungalow right through to large Housing Association projects for national contractors. Commercial work has included care homes, sports pavilions, hotels and offices. Merronbrook is able to offer a full erection service for its timber frame structures using experienced and fully qualified teams.
Timber frame packages offer considerable time saving over conventional construction. This is magnified when building multiple units. In addition, internal trades can start work while the timber frame construction is still going on. Timber frame construction improves U values without the need for wide wall construction. Merronbrook’s timber frame packages incorporate the floor joist system easi-joist. Protected chipboard is used for intermediate flooring.
All Merronbrook timber is kiln dried, stress graded and preserved using a water based double vacuum pressure impregnation system. It is purchased from renewable sources mainly in Scandinavia and the company is PEFC certified for Chain of Custody and tracking.
Trussed Rafters
Merronbrook has over 25 years’ design experience in the truss industry. The design team uses the latest Wolf systems software and will produce a complete structural roof package with assembly drawings and building control calculations.
All trusses are produced on site and can range from simple gable to gable roofs to complex designs. Large trussed rafter press benches ensure safe and accurate procedures and can accommodate the design of very large attic trusses as well as raised-tie collars and scissor-profiled roof trusses. Merronbrook can supply all the additional timber, metalwork and bracing to complete the roof structure, plus timber framed spandrel panels to form a compartment dividing wall.
Floor joist systems
The easi-joist system allows easy access for pipes and cables in floor zones and therefore speeds up the first stages making the provision of ducting for heat recovery systems much easier.
It is lightweight and quick and easy to install by eliminating the need for temporary bracing. All easi-joists are precisely manufactured so on-site alterations should not be necessary, resulting in less wastage.
Further Information
Merronbrook will supply quotations for any of its products on receipt of a drawing at a minimum of 1:100 scale. This is subject to a provisional appraisal on receipt regarding the suitability of the project.
