Treatments
Using the most environmentally friendly products available, Kilrot offers an effective service to eliminate woodworm, dry rot and rising damp. Timber still remains the key building material for due to its versatility, but is liable to destruction and deterioration from woodworm and fungi. Fungi develop in areas which are poorly ventilated and damp. Kilrot will inspect the area and specify all work required.
- Woodworm: For woodworm infestations, the team will inspect the building by lifting floor boards and checking roof voids. Areas requiring treatment will be cleared of dust and debris. Heavily infested areas of wood will be cut away and replaced.
- Dry Rot: Dry rot is treated by removing affected timbers and structures in the surrounding area. Floors, panelling, plaster and ceilings must be removed as the fungus has the ability to spread through brickwork.
- Rising Damp: Rising damp is caused by defective damp proof courses. The most effective treatment is chemical injection using a silicon resin solution. Kilrot use the Wykamol pressure injection system any damaged walls and floor joists can be repaired or replaced.
Cementitious Tanking and Concrete Repairs
Areas below ground level are liable to damp penetration via the floors and walls. Kilrot provide tanking services to make these areas completely waterproof. The walls are initially coated with a waterproof render and then coated in a concrete based multi-coat plastering system, which can be applied to exact specification. A choice of finishes is also available and Kilrot's surveyors will advise the client on the most appropriate solution.
Kilrot provides lasting repairs for damaged and deteriorated concrete. Damage can be caused by insufficient reinforcement cover, incorrect mix, pollution, and carbonation or pouring during construction. The experienced team will provide a treatment tailored to the specific issue. Treatments will include removal of all defective concrete and ensuring that there is a clean substrate onto which to apply the repair materials. Steel reinforcement will be cleaned and primed or even replaced and a protective coating will be applied to seal the concrete surface.
