Interfocus is the UK’s leading designer, manufacturer and installer of laboratory furniture used within pharmaceutical, research, education, industrial and healthcare sectors. The company offers a complete solution for new-build and renovation projects encompassing design, manufacture and installation of industrial and educational laboratory furniture, services and additional products such as write-up areas and office furniture.

Interfocus is located near Cambridge and has established a highly respected reputation for dealing with enquiries efficiently and effectively, ensuring that every stage of the project is handled correctly for a smooth transition. The wide and varied range of products includes furniture, worktops, wash stations, sinks, taps and fittings, fume extraction systems, safety storage cabinets and active desks.

Services

Interfocus has many years of experience in designing and planning turnkey projects. The team can assist in presenting applications for grants or funding by creating a detailed prospectus comprising of detailed drawings, photographs, 3D images and budget estimates and has successfully assisted numerous institutions, businesses and schools with such proposals. Interfocus has a large factory which utilises state-of-the-art machinery and tools including AutoCAD software, CNC machines and edgers, Inventor design software and beam saws to provide accurate bespoke solutions. All engineers carry CSCS cards and the electrical engineers are NICEIC registered and the gas engineers are registered with the new Gas Safety Register which replaced Corgi.

The i System Furniture Range

The furniture solutions are extremely flexible and incorporate practical design features to suit any laboratory. The skilled and experienced team at Interfocus will assist in specifying the most appropriate solution for a particular application. Options include:

• i1 System: Based around a C-Frame system, i1 provides a modern cantilever style with extra strength for bench top equipment
• i2 System: Based around the classic H-Frame, i2 offers a heavy duty, solid base for heavy bench top equipment
• i3 System: Based on the cantilever system, i3 is ideal for laboratories which require maximum flexibility regarding floor space for underbench equipment and furniture
• i4 System: Based on the suspended furniture system, i4 has been created with hygiene in mind and offers easy floor cleaning solutions, ideal in hospitals or infection control laboratories
• i5 System: A simple pedestal fixed furniture system for a permanent layout where the underbench furniture provides support for the worktops. This system is rigid and solid, but is less flexible

Laboratory Benching

Laboratory benching installation services are available which enable main contractors to have a frame and worktop supply and installation service.

Laboratory Refurbishment and Bespoke Construction

Interfocus provides complete laboratory refurbishments including installation of furniture, electrics, gas, IT and phone services, air conditioning, decorating, plumbing, carpentry by qualified and certified in-house engineers who all carry CSCS cards. Full turnkey solutions are available for complete new-build or refurbishment projects covering design, bespoke manufacture and installation.

Research and Industrial Laboratories

The Labline research range of furniture has been developed to satisfy the stringent demands required by scientific research, pharmaceutical and industrial laboratories. The experienced design team will select appropriate materials and the best i system furniture range which incorporate various shelving systems to suit the majority of requirements. A full range of fume cupboards and extract systems are also available.

School Science Laboratory Furniture

Interfocus can carry out a full turnkey solution for any school laboratory covering every aspect of design, manufacture and installation. This service includes extensive cost analysis and full project management to reduce delays and costs without the need for multiple contractors.

Healthcare Laboratories

Any of the i system laboratory furniture is suitable for healthcare labs and Interfocus can design a complete solution for any healthcare environment. The furniture can be manufactured in various materials such as Melamine MDF, Laminate MDF, Trespa or a combination of these materials.

Worksurfaces

Laboratory worksurfaces must be strong, durable and able to withstand the rigours of laboratory life. Interfocus provides a wide range of solutions which are suited to particular applications and uses. Options include:

• Trespa: A worksurface with good chemical, impact and scratch resistance, durability, excellent cleanability and economical panel sizes
• Laminate: Available in a wide range of colours, laminate is resistant to heat, moisture and abrasion
• Velstone: A solid surface, non-porous material
• Lab20: A solid surface worktop suitable for education and healthcare sectors as it provides a high chemical resistance at a reduced cost
• Iroko Hardwood: A traditional option for school labs which are easy to refurbish and extremely durable against attacks from acids, solvents and heat
• Stainless Steel: 316 grade worksurfaces that can be produced in simple bench runs to more complex worksurfaces where sinks and filtration may be required. Stainless steel is also ideal for sterile areas
