Indigenous is an independent company founded in 1998 by Joss Thomas and specialises in natural walls and floors and bespoke interiors and bathrooms. The company has seen steady and continuous growth over the years and has become renowned within the natural flooring industry for supplying quality terracotta, slate and stone tiles. Indigenous has the capability to supply unusual and bespoke products, alongside traditional favourites.

Indigenous has formed close working relationships with suppliers throughout the world, enabling the team to offer a specialised, bespoke service. The bespoke service can be meeting a simple request for a larger sized tile, to a complex stone staircase requiring templates and made-to-measure stone pieces.

Stone Flooring
Natural stone flooring is practical, robust, timeless, easy to maintain and aesthetically pleasing. It is an extremely popular choice, which is adaptable and suited to all interior styles. Tiles are specified for a wide range of domestic purposes in bathrooms, kitchens, entrance halls and conservatories and in commercial settings such as hotels, sports complexes, offices and retails outlets. There are three categories of stone; sedimentary, (limestone and sandstone), metamorphic (marble and quartzite) and igneous (granite). There is an extensive range of modern and traditional styles such as Antique Gold, Burgundy Flagstones, Classic Light Travertine, Cotswold Stone, Jerusalem Gold, Metro Limestone, Mosaics, Reclaimed Flagstones, Sandstone Flags and Tumbled Stones.
Slate Flooring
Slate is a metamorphic rock which is made up of compressed mudstones and shales formed underground around 350 years ago. Sourced from some of the oldest mountain regions in Africa, China and India, the slate comes in a wide choice of colours that will blend with any colour scheme. Slate is versatile, non-slip and hardwearing, making it particularly suitable for heavy traffic areas. Slate options include African Silver Slate, Black Slate Flags, Brazilian, Oyster Quartzite and Rustic Grey Flags.
Terracotta Tiles
Terracotta offers a simplistic, rich and warm appearance and is commonly sourced from France, Mexico and Spain. The terracotta tiles are produced in a traditional manner and once laid and waxed, the colour and texture offer a wonderfully calm and natural feel within a property. Terracotta tile ranges include Antique Pammets, Classic Terracotta, Reclaimed Terracotta and San Genis.
Timber Flooring
Traditional oak flooring has been a popular choice for many centuries and features beautiful graining and rich colours. The oak is easy to care for, beautiful, durable and versatile. The Indigenous portfolio includes a traditional range of called Old Floor and traditional wide planks to thinner, a more contemporary European Oak flooring collection. Also included within the range are timber mosaics, which are suited to floor and wall applications for a striking and individual statement.
Underfloor Heating
Indigenous recommends the Devimat system for underfloor heating below tiles. The Devimats are 500mm wide, are quick and easy to install and costs around 0.7 pence per hour, per square metre to operate. As well as creating a comfortable and warm floor, the Devimat system will allow heat to drift upwards, contributing to the room temperature.
Interiors
Indigenous is currently developing an interiors section and is presently offering a range of stone fireplaces. The Cotswold stone fireplaces are handmade in the Cotswolds and designed simply to create a beautiful and eye-catching focal point. Every fireplace is made to order to individual designs and specifications.
Bathrooms
Indigenous has a full understanding and appreciation of the bathroom market of what works well and an appreciation for functional products with aesthetic appeal. - Copper baths
- Handmade reclaimed teak bath and basins
- Unique Riverstone bathtubs, bowls and sink pedestals crafted from stone thrown from deep within the earth's crust, which is then washed down a river in Central Java and collected and crafted by hand
- Travertine basins, shower trays and baths produced from a single piece of solid classic light travertine which has been honed and filled
- Victoria and Albert baths are stunning freestanding baths that combine comfort and style using a material called Quarrycast, a rare volcanic limestone mixed with resin. There is a range of styles available in traditional styles, with a contemporary twist
- Brassware
