Gabions
Hy-Ten provides welded mesh and woven mesh gabions which provide extensive reinforcement for areas which require a modular building bock format. The gabions form building blocks against the area which needs protection and when installed on site they are filled with rock, stone or crushed concrete. Gabions are supplied flat packed and are available in standard and non standard sizes. Welded mesh gabions can either be produced using stainless steel or PVC Zinc with protective coating. Woven mesh is available in galvanised or coated high density polyetherlene.
Mattresses
Gabion mattresses are specifically designed for coastal areas, rivers or lakes to prevent scour or erosion on revetments or water courses. Supplied in either welded mesh or woven mesh, units are divided into small compartments depending on the application or slope gradient. Mattresses can be produced to standard sizing requirements or bespoke specifications.
Rock Netting
Where escarpments pose a danger due to falling rocks or debris, rock netting can be applied. Anchored and cabled at the top the mesh acts as a guide, ensuring rocks fall to the base of the escarpment. In chalk situations a secondary mesh which is finer or biodegradable can be installed to ensure the capture of smaller particles. The rock netting is a woven wire mesh which is galvanised or coated with high density polyetherlene.
