Haddonstone Company Profile

Haddonstone

Fine ornamental and architectural cast stone

Haddonstone Ltd is a leading UK manufacturer of ornamental and architectural cast stone in traditional, classical and contemporary styles. The Haddonstone collection comprises the standard range of designs and is the most comprehensive of its kind produced anywhere. Every single item is the work of highly skilled craftsmen in Northamptonshire.

Haddonstone is a unique form of cast limestone with a surface texture similar to Portland stone. The material matures and weathers like natural stone yet, piece for piece, normally costs significantly less than quarried stone.

The standard range includes: Balustrading; Parapet Screening; Gate Piers; Pier Caps; Copings and Cappings; Porticos and Door Surrounds; Landscape Structures including pergola, follies and orangeries; Window Surrounds; Heads, Cills and Keystones; Architectural details including Plinths, String Courses, Brackets, Corbels, Quoins, Roundels and Plaques; Cladding and Rain Screen Cladding; Flooring, Paving and Steps in addition to a vast range of landscape ornaments including planters, water features, statues and sundials. Each product is available in three colours, Portland, Bath or Terracotta although other colour options are available for selected designs. Haddonstone even offers a product that can be used to instantly age a new product for those who do not want to wait!

The ability to mould the Haddonstone material into almost any shape ~ faithfully reproducing new designs or producing replicas that are virtually indistinguishable from an antique original ~ has won the company numerous contracts ranging from leading international hotels and retail developments to listed National Trust properties and prestige residential projects.

The material used in every design, from the smallest planter to the largest Corinthian column, exceeds the compressive cube strength requirements of the United Kingdom Cast Stone Association and complies with all relevant UK and European standards, whilst TecStone also meets the requirements of all US standards.

Each design is hand made by Haddonstone in the UK or USA using moulds created within the company’s extensive mould shops and studios. As Haddonstone maintains original models and/or moulds for every single design in the standard collection and utilises the very latest vapour curing technology, customers can be reassured that the high quality of each stone produced is incredibly consistent whilst retaining the individuality of a hand-made product. The company even offers a five year warranty on cast stone garden ornaments.

The Material Options

  • Haddonstone: Haddonstone is a renowned dry-cast stone which, with a minimum cube strength at 28 days being greater than 35 MPa, surpasses the requirements of the rigorous UKCSA specification and complies with the requirements of BS1217: 2008, BS5642: 1983, and BS EN 13198: 2003.
  • TecStone: TecStone is a wet-cast stone with a minimum cube strength at 28 days being greater than 45 MPa. TecStone is a denser material with a smoother finish to meet demanding design and performance criteria. TecStone is ideal for use in standard and custom designs ranging from columns and paving to fountains and statuary.
  • TecLite: Although TecLite closely resembles traditional cast stone and natural stone in appearance, the use of thin wall construction and GRC/GFRC technology means the component weight is reduced by approximately two thirds when compared with similar Haddonstone pieces. TecLite is ideal for retro-fit, timber-frame and new build projects where component weight is an issue. TecLite products can be used in conjunction with standard Haddonstone architectural components as the colours are complementary. Consequently, users can incorporate both Haddonstone and TecLite components in the same project with absolute confidence.

Custom-Made Stonework

Haddonstone has a vast range of standard architectural components. Alternatively, by utilising the company’s extensive mould shop and manufactory, Haddonstone can produce custom-made items, replicating simple or intricate designs, to individual specifications in practically any quantity, shape, size or colour.

If you are involved with commercial developments, private housing, refurbishment or restoration, Haddonstone has Technical Departments in both the UK and USA, manned by experienced staff, who would be pleased to discuss your requirements.

The expertise of Haddonstone's craftsmen, together with on-going investment in research and development of state-of-the-art mouldmaking and casting technology, equips the company to solve most problems ~ including the constant need to contain costs.

While experts have, more than once, confused Haddonstone with carved stone, a glance at the company’s prices would have made such confusion impossible!

Environmental and Sustainable Solutions

Haddonstone is committed to an Environmental and Sustainability Management System which ensures that work activity processes do not make a significant impact on the environment.

Best environmental practice is adopted wherever possible. Consequently, Haddonstone undertakes the management of finite, naturally occurring resources by balancing needs with future sustainability. Objectives include: energy conservation; resource conservation; reducing pollution; waste reduction and re-cycling; and the minimisation of hazardous substance use. As a result, all environmental and sustainability aspects are identified and, where necessary, controlled to minimise or eliminate their effect on the environment.
