Guideline Lift Services Company Profile

With 40 years experience in the seamless installation, modernisation, maintenance and repair of lifts, Guideline Lift Services is one of the oldest and largest leading independent lift companies in the UK.

It provides a full range of services including design, installation and commissioning of complete new lift installations, major reconstruction of existing lifts, repairs and improvements and planned and preventative maintenance on all types and makes of lift installations.

Founded in 1972 by Peter Jepheart and Bob Deevey, Guideline has gone from strength to strength and currently maintains over 3,000 lifts and has about 500 contracts throughout the UK. Its extensive portfolio of clients range from private individuals, property management companies and housing associations to major blue chip organisations including Barclays, Honda, BT, Britvic and BSkyB.

The company has also worked on numerous projects from small-scale installations and single lifts to large-scale contracts for government organisations and over 400 lifts for the Ministry of Justice.

Guideline also covers high profile critical response sites including first response lift and escalator services for the Olympic Park during the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. Its recent installations and modernisations include the Royal Courts of Justice and New Scotland Yard.

Guideline is a long established member of the Lift & Escalator Industry Association and it is fully accredited with British Standards to the European Quality Standard BS EN ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, currently working towards ISO 18001.

The Team

Offering innovative solutions combined with a team of highly-skilled and experienced staff, Guideline is fully committed to offering an exemplary service to the building management sector.

Its board of directors has more than 150 years' combined experience in the industry and all engineers are NVQ3 qualified or equivalent, and all testers and technicians are trained to NVQ4. The staff are provided with continuous training and development on all aspects of Guideline's operations.

Products and Services

Guideline provides lift maintenance services around the clock, 365 days of the year. This includes breakdown response, lift repairs, maintenance and modernisation.

The company appreciates that clients require minimum downtime when lifts are undergoing maintenance and repairs. Its engineers work efficiently to get the lifts back to full service as soon as possible.

GEMS – Real Time Reporting

GEMS is a bespoke management system which enables clients to access a live web-based management and asset reporting system. This has been Guideline's main area of research and development for the past year and it is designed to provide our engineers and staff with immediate remote access via a mobile device to client records and health and safety information.

This is to ensure that instant action can be taken on any type of situation including service and repairs or health and safety issues. Access to GEMS is also provided to all Guideline’s clients allowing them access 24 hours a day to a wide variety of information on their lift portfolio including service reports, maintenance dockets, quotes and statements of completed works.

New Lift Installations

Guideline can provide lifts for virtually any application from simplex to eight-car groups. The very best products are sourced from around the globe at highly competitive prices which means that its lifts have a longer lifespan compared to cheaper models, which saves money on maintenance and repairs.

Lift Repairs

Guideline's team of dedicated engineers are available 24/7 providing a full range of lift repairs including immediate repair work. All aspects of repairs can be carried out such as repairs to gear boxes, ropes, door operators, drive units, control panels and much more.

Lift Refurbishment and Modernisation Services

At some point, the majority of lifts will need modernising or refurbishing whether it has become unreliable or simply because the rest of the building is being refurbished.

Guideline can provide a range of modernisation and refurbishment services to all types of lift from basic control panel changes to a complete facelift. The company has access to a massive range of individual components offering the right solution for every individual project at the best possible price.

Eco-Life Lighting Control

This is a simple system that dims the lights in a lift when it isn't in use. The system is inexpensive and easy to install saving you money on maintenance and lighting bills.

It will detect the smallest amount of movement in the lift to ensure that it is always ready to use. A timer option is also available which will switch off all of the lights once the building's occupants have left at the end of the day.

As well as saving the customer money, the system will also contribute to the Government's target of reducing the UK's carbon footprint.

Eco-Life Lift Maintenance Contracts

Guideline's Eco-Life maintenance contracts enable the client to select the most appropriate program to suit their needs and budget.

There are four levels of maintenance contracts ranging from the Eco-Life Bronze package through to the more comprehensive packages, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Each contract combines vital health and safety procedures which are designed to limit the number of call-outs and improve the lifespan and reliability of the equipment.

Standard services include routine maintenance schedules, 24-hour callout facility, response to trappings (½ hour target time), access to GEMS, quarterly condition reports, 24-hour callout voice link. Extra services include callouts requiring adjustments only, callouts including labour and parts (8am-5pm Mon-Fri) and callouts including labour and parts 24 hours-a-day, 7 days a week.
