Evolution is based in Ongar, Essex, and specialises in the design and manufacture of superior quality veneered panels, doors and associated products. The company has close links with a wide range of clients including architects, main contractors, joinery companies, shop fitters, cabinet makers and the general public.
Evolution has a team of highly skilled craftsmen who work with quality raw materials and state of the art machinery to ensure that every design specification is met. The product range includes performance doors, security doors, frames, screens, skirting, flooring and veneered panels. There is an extensive array of exotic and standard veneers available in various colours, grains and finishes. Alternative finishes include face veneers, laminates and paint; all are typically coated in a clear lacquer or sealed for final finishing by others.
Services
Evolution offers an extensive portfolio of bespoke designed panels and doors to any specification, whether it is a single item or large scale project. It has a variety of matching techniques such as book matching, slip matching, random matching, mismatching and quarter matching and can incorporate contrasting inlays and carry out marquetry and parquetry work to create stunning visual effects. Once the selected timber has been veneered, a number of finishes can be applied such as liming, tinting, dying, staining, lacquering and painting to emphasise the natural graining within the wood. The veneered panels can be supplied ready for site installation or in component form for individual kitchen, cabinet or furniture manufacture. Frames, screens, skirting, solid timber and engineered flooring products are also available with an in-house finish with a clear pigmented pre-cat, ac or pu layer or painted in any BS or RAL colour.

Fire Doors
The fire door range is suited to a variety of applications and offers 30 minutes to two hours integrity. The fire doors have been extensively tested and are available in standard and bespoke sizes and designs including vision panels and cut-outs for grills. Timber inserts can be incorporated into the door core to allow for feature grooves and mouldings. Evolution can also prepare the doors for ironmongery such as locks, hinges and closers. The doors come with solid particleboard or laminated cores and are finished in wood veneer, laminates, paint or steel.
Panelled Doors
The panelled door range can be manufactured with a standard particleboard core with chipboard, MDF panels with hardwood beading or a traditional timber construction with flat or raised and fielded panels. There is a wide variety of contemporary and traditional designs that can incorporate glazed panels and screens. Fire door and high performance acoustic doors are available within this range.
Acoustic Doors
Acoustic doors are specified for offering a substantial sound reduction in lecture theatres, boardrooms and office areas. Every component is factory fitted to proven designs, ensuring a dB rating that can be achieved on site as opposed to a theoretical maximum. The complete doorset packages offer a maximum 44dB rating, single or double leaf doors, overpanels and screens, vision panels, automatic drop down seal as the door is closed, low profile aluminium profiles and an extensive variety of frame options.
Doorsets
The doorsets are a complete package comprising a hardwood, softwood or MDF frame, superior quality door single or double leaf, various vision panel options, all ironmongery and pre-fitted acoustic seals.
Anti-Vandal Doors
The anti-vandal door range offers increased protection against vandals and intruders. The doors are manufactured with a laminated timber core and a plywood facing which can be veneered or laminated. Galvanised steel sheets can be included as the final face, painted or over-veneered. Glazing using anti-bandit glass and a range of steel beads are also available.
Wireway Doors
Wireway doors allow for the integration of electronic components within the door core, which can be then linked to a proprietary alarm system. The doors are constructed with a high density solid particle board core with electronics being fed through a tube. Multiple wireway doors are available and the final facing can be as per any other door within a project for complete discretion.
Frames and Screens
There is a complete range of fire and non-fire rated frames and screens to suit various design requirements in hardwood, softwood or MDF. The range is available in standard widths of 94, 100, 113, 126 and 144mm and bespoke sizes can be made to individual specification. Acoustic seals, pre-machining for hinges and other ironmongery is incorporated and all required stops, architraves and extension linings are supplied. Full colour matching is available and the frames and screens can be provided loose for site assembly, glazed or unglazed; timber pellets can also be supplied upon request. The fire doors have also been fully tested for use with steel and aluminium frames.
Skirting
Skirting is manufactured in solid timber, veneered MDF or a combination of both in 2400mm and 3000mm lengths. Chamfer details, grooves and alternative decorative features can be machined as required. All items are free from splits and knots and can be finished in-house in clear or pigmented pre-cat, ac or pu lacquer or painted in any RAL colour. Evolution can also match other timber items such as window boards, handrails and mouldings.
Flooring
Evolution provides a wide range of engineered and solid wood flooring. Engineered wood is increasingly being specified as it is less likely to split and warp in changing temperatures. The engineered wood flooring is constructed of plywood or block wood and the face and unseen reverse sides are veneered in a constructional veneer, typically 2.5mm thick which allows for future sanding, square edging or bevelling. Timbers available include Ash, Steamed Beech, American Cherry, African Mahogany, Maple, Teak, Oak, Walnut and other exotic timbers.
Veneered Panels
Evolution produces purpose-made veneered and laminated panels which are suitable for use as partitioning systems, reception desks, kitchen cabinets and specialist furniture. Veneers can be matched to individual requirements and may include inlays and other subtle details. Other considerations include high quality veneered boards for a client’s own manufacture which are available in matching packs in standard veneers through to high quality Rosewoods.
