Traditional Beam & Block
The 150mm deep suspended pre-cast concrete beam and block floor system has been designed primarily for the housing market on both ground and upper floors. The beam is up to 40% lighter than any other beam on the market, making it easier to handle and position on site. It is designed and manufactured to BS8110 "The Structural use of Concrete".
The high strength reinforced concrete beam is manufactured ‘Wet Cast’ in steel moulds creating smooth, straight pre-cast beams. Spans up to 6m can be accommodated with standard domestic loads. Suitable for floor blocks from 650kg/m3 lightweight to 2000kg/m3 dense concrete, which can be delivered with the beams.
Thermal Beam & Block
The CUBE6 thermal flooring system is a simple and cost effective way to create a fully insulated suspended floor. Significant improvements are made in the thermal efficiency of the building compared to a standard beam & block system, providing a higher level of home comfort and reduced heating costs.
The system comprises of our 150mm deep beam together with a moulded solid core polystyrene panel that interlocks on the underside of the beam giving an unbroken layer of insulation below. The floor is then finished off with a structural screed. The system meets with the more stringent requirements of the Part L Building Regulations and The British Board of Agrément has approved the Panel System under BBA Certificate 07/4411 which includes the polystyrene panels.
The system is easier and faster to install and more cost effective than the traditional beam and block floors due to minimal components and more effective method of insulation. The panels sit flush with the top of the beams making it a perfect base where Underfloor Heating Systems are to be installed. The solid polystyrene panels are easily cut to size yet robust enough to withstand the installation process.
By modifying the depth and quality of the system CUBE6 can achieve U Values from 0.25W/m2K upto 0.07W/m2K to fulfill the requirements of the Code for Sustainable Homes to Level 6.
Upper Floor Beam & Pot
Beam and pot is an alternative solution to Hollowcore plank systems at upper floors. It is cost effective, flexible in design, simple to install and has quick lead in times.
The system consists of the CUBE6 150mm deep beam with 100mm deep infill pots designed in accordance with the Robust Details for Part E floors. The infill pots are ‘T’ shaped units that fit 50mm below the top of the beam and flush with its base. Once the floor pots are laid the space above the pot and between the beams is then filled with 50mm concrete giving a floor mass in excess of 300kg/m2. The floor is then finished with either a screed, as shown, or a floating floor.
