Natural Slate Pitched Roofing
Natural slate offers both aesthetic appeal and superior durability and can make a considerable contribution to a building’s whole life costs. Natural slate roofs can last a lifetime if installed correctly and are resistant to extremes of temperature, acids, alkalis and other chemicals. Natural slate works with local or traditional character and features variations in colour, texture and size. Natural slate options include:
- Glendyne: Glendyne offers a stunning blue/grey colour, is approved for use in the Snowdonia National Park and is ideal for use on schools, city offices, prestige homes and major building projects.
- Duquesa: Duquesa is a superior grade Spanish slate which offers a smooth surface texture and constant thickness.
- Contessa: Contessa natural slates are suitable for the British climate and feature a normal texture with varied appearance in blue/black and grey shades.
- Alpina: Alpina slates provide a consistent texture and thickness and are available in graphite and grey/green colour options.
- Montleon: Montleon slates offer a rugged appearance with a high quality blue/grey colour, ideal for traditional buildings, barn conversions and rural properties.
- Welsh and Cumbrian: Welsh and Cumbrian slate is a traditional UK roofing slate which offers a stunning appearance and quality.
Fibre Cement Pitched Roofing Slates
Lightweight fibre cement slates offer fire and rot resistance. Fibre cement – produced by combining cellulose, reinforcing fibres and cement in water – can be compressed to the desired thickness. Colouration is often incorporated on the surface or within the mix and extra curing is carried out to improve strength. Products include:
- Jutland: Jutland slates feature a smooth surface, consistent dimensions, pre-drilled holes and come in four colour and three format options.
- Zeeland: Zeeland fibre cement slates feature a random textured surface, consistent dimensions, pre-drilled holes and create a natural slate roof effect.
- Westerland: Westerland fibre cement slates are available in three colour options and offer a natural textured surface and dressed edge.
- Moorland: Moorland fibre cement slates feature a natural looking dressed edge for a natural slate roof effect, at a fraction of the cost.
- Diamond: Diamond fibre cement slates provide a retro style roof effect in three colour options. This cost-effective single-lap fixing slate is lightweight, pre-holed and simple to install.
Cedar Shingles
Eastern White cedar shingles are cut from Grade A natural cedar imported from Canada. They are trimmed to create square corners. Eastern White cedar is resistant to fungal, insect and moisture decay, which can be improved with the application of additional chemical treatments. Options include pale brown (untreated) and green (treated), both of which will weather to silver grey. The untreated shingles offer a 25-30 year lifespan.
Bitumen Shingles
Bitumen shingles are fabricated using layers of organic felt and other components which are impregnated with hot bitumen, coated with stabiliser and coloured granules on the top surface. The shingles are cut to size and are suitable for chalets, sheds, outhouses and mobile homes. Standard colours are green, black, brown, red and grey.
Corrugated Sheet
Corrugated sheet offers increased strength over flat sheet and enables water to run off at a controlled rate. The rot and rust proof roofing sheets are moulded in wet fibre cement and are available in three surface finishes and a number of colour options:
- Cemsix: Perfect for applications such as animal shelters, Cemsix sheets come in low sheen, coloured and cement grey finishes. The superior colouration process includes undercoat, topcoat, edge coating and rear anti-blocking seals
- B5 Corrugated Sheet: B5 is ideal for single storey structures including stables and garages and can be laid at a 10 degree minimum pitch. Coloured sheets in 4' and 10' 62" lengths are available
- 3.2 CH: This high density, durable lining board is suitable for harsh climatic/working conditions and has an easy-clean smooth surface, making it ideal for poultry housing.
External Cladding
Cladding panels come in a huge array of colours, shapes and textures. There is a cladding solution for virtually every project and budget requirement. Options include:
- Cembrit Metro: Metro cladding features a water-based acrylic based paint which is opaque; creating a smooth, even effect. The cladding is mould, moss, algae, water stains and dirt resistant. Eighteen standard colours are available.
- Cembrit Zenit: This through-coloured façade board which reduces the visibility of scratches and is resistant to moss, algae, water staining and dirt. Ten colour options are available.
- Cembrit HD: Cembrit heavy duty cladding is available in 6 and 8mm thicknesses and is suitable for use as a base-board for paints, veneers and laminates.
