Caldwell Hardware designs, manufactures and supplies specialist hardware and security products and systems for the window and door industries in the UK, Europe and the USA. Its products can be standard, customised or bespoke and are used in commercial, domestic and social projects. The company has in-house design and manufacturing resources, and its staff can offer help at all stages of the process, from design and estimation to the fabrication and installation of the products.
Founded in 1888, Coventry-based Caldwell Hardware is part of the American Caldwell Manufacturing group. It has stockists across the UK as well as in Ireland and Europe.

Sliding windows
Caldwell Hardware offers a vast number of options for sliding windows. Its sash balances come double sprung, pre-tensioned or non-pre-tensioned; these are attached to the window by one of many varieties of balance bracket (for non-tilt sash windows), or pivot shoes for tilting sash windows, which lock any vertical movement of the sash when a window is tilted. Other products include sash locks, to stop unauthorised opening, and travel restrictors that offer a 10cm safety opening position – useful for buildings where there will be children.
Pivot windows
The company’s key offerings for pivot windows are the 3000 Pivot Hinge and the 900 Series Restrictor. The 3000 Pivot Hinge is made from aluminium extrusion to BS1474 on a dual-action self-engaging restrictor for extra safety when the window is open. It’s designed so that a sash can be easily fitted or removed. The 900 Series Restrictor is tested to meet 600N loads in accordance with BS6375 part 2. It’s easy to fit, and can be used on various window types such as aluminium, PVC-U or timber. Caldwell Hardware also offers a ‘T’ key restricted access lock for pivot windows to help prevent unwanted operation.
Casement windows
Caldwell Hardware offers two types of folding openers: the Pace range, which can be fitted to top or bottom-hung windows, and the all-new Fo Plus range for top-hung windows. Another option are Anderberg heavy duty hinges, which use a four-bar design for strength and stability and are made of 300 series non-magnetic stainless steel to prevent corrosion. Spring catches, made from extruded aluminium, can be operated from almost any angle. These products are especially useful for skylights, where windows can be situated at unusual angles. Also available are butt hinges and 900 series surface-mounted restrictors.
