Brookvent Company Profile

Brookvent has been at the forefront of the UK and Irish ventilation industry since 1984 and specialises in the design and manufacture of energy efficient mechanical and window ventilation systems. The company works alongside many leading specifiers, housing associations and companies within the construction sector and assists them in the selection of ventilation solutions for a wide range of projects.

Brookvent has seen a steady and continuous growth over the years and now exports products to Eastern Europe, North America and Canada. The new mechanical ventilation systems are designed to satisfy the requirements of the private residential and social housing sectors and include heat recovery, central extract and positive input ventilation systems which incorporate innovative design features that reflect the ever-changing market demands for greater controllability, efficiency and performance.

Mechanical Ventilation

Mechanical ventilation is also known as whole house ventilation and basically involves the removal and/or supply of air to a building via mechanical fans. This type of ventilation is generally continuous and assists in circulating fresh air within a property whilst expelling the pollutant at source. Brookvent has developed a range of solutions which include:

Heat recovery ventilation systems have been designed to offer excellent air comfort levels, whilst conserving energy and minimising heat loss. The system works by recovering heat from extracted air and sending it through a heat exchanger to be distributed throughout a property. The systems by Brookvent can achieve heat recovery efficiency of up to 90% and provide fresh, filtered and warm air into habitable rooms. The air movement reduces humidity, condensation and mould growth and creates healthier and more comfortable environments. There are two systems available, the Aircycle 1.1 is suitable for houses and apartments and the Aircycle 2.1 is suitable for large houses and light commercial applications and both feature digital controls, 100% variable speed control, 7 speed settings, boosters, 5/2 day timers and an in-built summer by-pass.

  • Central Extract Ventilation

The Brookvent Airstream system eliminates the requirement of individual fan units in each wetroom and uses a single fan ventilation unit with duct connections to each wetroom, which offers lower running costs and only one exterior vent. The unit continuously extracts air from kitchens and wetrooms drawing it into the unit and sending outside. This system works with window vents and causes fresh air to be drawn in via the vents. The system can be linked to switches/signals such as lighting, shower circuits and motion sensors to instruct the system to boost. Products include the Airstream 1.1E and 1.1AC which are suitable for houses, apartments and light commercial applications and are SAP approved and can provide up to five extract points.

Positive input ventilation is ideal for existing properties which are suffering from condensation problems. The Airplus 1.1 system works by introducing fresh air in from a ventilated loft space, filtering it and supplying it through a property via a single diffuser located in a central hallway. This positive air movement causes the polluted air to be forced out through vents or via the natural leakage points within the building’s envelope. Air from loft spaces is generally 3 degrees warmer than the atmosphere and will require less energy to heat rooms to the desired temperature. The positive input ventilation systems reduce condensation and mould growth by sending clean fresh air throughout the building.

  • Window Ventilation

The majority of Brookvent window ventilation ranges are manufactured to customer’s specific requirements and can satisfy a wide variety of demanding environments and meet the requirements of numerous Building Regulations and Industry Standards. There are two main types of window ventilation which include:

  • Surface Mount Vents

The surface mount vents are manufactured from aluminium and are available in a wide range of colour and control options. The vents are fitted onto a window sash or frame covering each side of a pre-cut slot through the window profile. This allows for fresh air to enter the property which is controlled by the end-user via various control options. An additional part of the vent is a hood and grill which protects the building from insects and moisture ingress. Key advantages of the surface mount vents include lower costs, ready-made sizes and on-site installation.

  • Glazed-In Vents

Manufactured from extruded aluminium, the glazed-in vents provide a strong and robust solution to passive ventilation. The vents are available in a wide range of colours with knob, cord or rod control options and are generally made-to-measure. The vents slot neatly in between the frame of the window and the glass, allowing fresh air to enter and circulate around a room and stale and polluted air to exit via the same means. Glazed-in vents are widely used in collaboration with localised extract fans and central extract systems. Key benefits of the vents include: maintained integrity of the frame, strengthens the frame, concealed trickle option available, improved control options and excellent air-flow performance. Products include the DG 1400 and 1500, the Thermal Break vent, the slimline PD vent and the DG standard vent.

Brookvent has been a leading designer and manufacturer of ventilation systems for the private residential and social housing market sectors for many years and has established a widely respected reputation within the industry. The intelligent design of the systems provides increased energy efficiency and greater performance levels. The professional and experienced team at Brookvent can provide in-depth information and advice across the whole product range and welcomes enquiries for large and small projects throughout the UK and Ireland.
