AN Systems are based near Guilford, Surrey and specialise in growing, designing and installing living walls and green roofing systems. The company is the UK and Ireland's only grower and distributor of the ANS Modular Vertical Walling and Green Roof Systems which are designed and produced by Hellogreen.
A green roof or living wall system is essentially a ready made garden that is fully installed with living plants. The systems are created to a bespoke design and arrive on-site completely planted as a finished product which is ready for immediate, fast and easy installation. Living Walls
Living wall systems are simply attached to a vertical structure or wall. The ANS living wall system is available with a wide range of plant varieties that are suited to growing on a vertical surface and can generally tolerate all aspects of weather exposure. Each cell of the module is set at a 30 degree angle, with a media depth of 150mm and is designed to allow water flow through into a water retention fleece. Every module is planted by hand, to specific designs and requirements.
An Emitter Irrigation System is installed within the modules along the horizontal run of each 500mm module line. This system evenly emits water through the living wall and can be operated on an automatic or semi-automatic basis and is recommended for the long-term sustainability of the planting.
Living walls are suitable for residential and commercial properties and gardens and create unique, environmentally friendly features that change with every season. Living walls can be used to cover and disguise unsightly buildings and walls.
Green Roofs
Green roof systems can be installed on any flat roof or roofs with a slight pitch. Traditionally green roof systems require component layers which have to be individually built up; this is often time consuming and halts roof inspections. The All-in-One ANS Green Roof Module otherwise known as a Vegetation Carrier is a 4-in-1 system which comprises of a water retention reservoir, a dimpled bio-blanket and filter membrane, 60-70mm of substrate and an established planted layer. The modules can be installed in one visit and are supplied in 1m x 0.5m sections with a 100mm lap on the base layer to allow it to interlock into adjoining modules.
The vegetation carriers are delivered on-site, flat packed on pallets and are suitable for new and refurbishment projects. If an inspection is required, the vegetation carriers are simply lifted and laid back afterwards. The system can be supplied with grasses, wild flowers, and a variety of sedum or plants native to the project location.
